1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 auto
This 1961 Jaguar 3.8 Mk2 benefits from Factory Wire Wheels, Factory Power Steering and an automatic gearbox. Built on 4th January 1961, it was dispatched to the North American market in February of that year. Though not much is known about its driving history, it was last registered for road use in 1994 and has been in storage since that time. At some point in its early life it did receive an engine change. The replacement 3.8 motor is a matching head and block with the correct LA prefix for a 1960/61 3.8 Mk2. The motor turns freely on the crank.
Originally this car was the desirable Opalescent Dark Green with Red leather interior. It was repainted a solid green at a time when some restorative bodywork was undertaken. The interior is intact and presentable in black. The brightwork, glass and lighting are all in good condition.
It will require restoration work to the usual areas of sills, jacking points, spring hangers and areas of both front wings. The body panels are straight however and only require reworking with readily available part-panels rather than replacement.
Overall, this 1961 3.8 Mk2 represents a rare opportunity to carry out a sympathetic restoration for what will be a most beautiful example of the marque.
